FAME award

The Foundation for Australia’s Most Endangered Species Ltd (FAME) provides financial support and expertise in the delivery of projects and programs aimed at protecting and re-establishing Australian species and their habitats. This prize recognises a project that has undertaken direct actions to conserve an Australian mammal, or generated high-quality science that directly supports conservation action. The prize will be awarded to the best applied conservation project with a spoken or poster presentation by a student at an Annual Meeting of the Society.

The award consists of a certificate and a monetary prize of $300. The mode of payment will be determined by the FAME Board and payment arranged with the student after the conference.

Conditions

  • Only student members of the Society are eligible.
  • The applicant must be the sole or senior author of the paper for which the award is made.
  • A judging panel will be appointed by the FAME Board and AMS Council to assess applicants for the award at the Annual Scientific Meeting.
  • In the case of multiple authors, students must provide to the Council a statement describing the contribution of other authors to the research.
  • FAME prize recipients are also eligible for the Bolliger Award, Lyne Award, and a Student Travel Award but not the John Seebeck Award.

How to apply

Student members are automatically entered in the FAME Prize, unless they notify the Society that they do not wish to be considered for the award. This can be done when submitting a conference abstract.
